There are many forces that have shaped who I am as a person today. If I had to name ten I would choose my dad, my mom, my sisters, my friends, books, music, technology, television, my mistakes, and, a specific book, Harry Potter.
My dad helped shape my by pushing me to always do my best in everything and try my hardest. He also taught me that it's okay to be a little dorky and eccentric and off-the-wall, because life tends to be more fun that way. He is also very solid and reliable and is always there when I need him.
My mom, similar to my dad, is my rock. She is always there and always knows what to do or say to help me. She's taught me a lot about being an adult, but she also taught me how to have fun. I'm very open with my mother, in a way that I'm not with a lot of other people and she knows it. She's always there to help me out if I need it.
My sisters have shaped me by teaching my responsibility and trust. They have also shaped me by being brutally honest, even when it hurts.
My friends have shaped my for always being there. They have helped introduce me to the things I love most and keep me in check most of the time.
Books have taught me many important life lessons. They're also always there, even when other people aren't. They are never judgemental and they don't care who you are, what you look like, or any of the trivial things some people care about.
Music is something that really came into my life freshmen year and since then it's always had an influence on me. Like, books it's always there and doesn't judge, which is a nice change. You can also relate to a lot of music, if you know where to look.
Technology has shaped me because I've met several people through blogging websites who are absolutely hilarious and wonderful. They are there when I need a pick me up and stress relief and they always have me laughing. Technology has also shaped me by introducing me to one of my favorite actors/role models, he is a true inspiration and taught me a lot about living your dreams and making a change.
Television has shaped me by giving me Glee. Glee has made me see that sometime being the underdog is okay. That life can truly throw you some awful curveballs, but with friendship and music (wow, that sounded cheesy) you can at least give yourself a little happiness. Glee has introduced me to so many of my rolemodels and inspirations and I look up to almsot everyone one of it's cast members for their talent and caring.
My mistakes have shaped me because they have given me something to grow from and work on fixing. It has given me a starting point from which to build on =to myself and become a better person.
Harry Potter is a book series that defined my childhood. From the first time I picked it up I knew immediately that it would have a poignant effect on my life. These books taught me so many lessons: the power of love, the prevailing of good vs. evil, friendship, etc. Harry Potter was there for me and from the very beginning he helped shape my life and introduce me to all sorts of people that I'd probably never have talked to otherwise.
Kara,
I really like that you not only chose people but you chose different forces such as books and television that many people wouldn't think of as much. It is very interesting how certain things such as technology and books are taken for granted and people never really understand the true affect that they have on people. I agree with you in the fact that these sources can be positive forces such as Glee and Harry Potter which teach you basic morals about life and the lesson that fitting in is not always the most important thing. I thought that the forces that shaped you are along the same lines as the ones that shaped me and I am glad that they have had a positive affect on the both of us!

Kara,
I can relate entirely to your list. Books have, and always will be, something that inspire me long after I read them. I loved that you can relate, especially when it comes to Harry Potter. I also thought it was very interesting that you should pick your mistakes as something. While I was writing mine, I was finding it hard to pick things that weren't objects or people. That was really interesting to read, especially from your point of view. I love that you find that Glee teaches positive ideals, because I would have to agree completely. All in all, this was an awesome list!
